George Dies

George Dies is the Director of Strategic Planning for Hewlett-Packard Laboratories, supporting the interactions between Labs’ research teams and HP’s business groups.

George joined HP in 2000 as part of Strategy and Corporate Development, where he supported the Personal Systems Group, Global Operations, and HP Labs, in their M&A and alliance activities. He came to HP from Palo Alto Products International (now part of Flextronics), a designer and contract manufacturer for Dell, HP, Palm and Gateway. Prior to that, George worked for seven years each in a variety of finance and administrative roles at Spectra-Physics, Inc., a world leader in lasers and analytical equipment, and Raychem Corporation, a leading materials science company.

George has an undergraduate degree in Economics and French from Princeton University and a MBA from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business. Prior to getting an MBA, he spent seven years in the US diplomatic service. He is fluent in French, German and Dutch (formerly so in Turkish).
